Job Summary

Central Washington University is recruiting a Development Coordinator - Athletics (Program Coordinator) to join our University Advancement team in Ellensburg, Washington. The Role:

The Development Coordinator - Athletics (DCA) serves as a collaboration conduit between the departments of Athletics and the Development staff and program, under the umbrella of University Advancement. The DCA is part of a team under the direction of the Assistant Vice President for Development, Ellensburg and works directly with the department of Athletics and the Athletics Director of Development. The ADOD will provide assistance, coordination and support to the Athletic Director and Athletics Director of Development related to fundraising, alumni relations and donor relations. The DCA will work with donors directly on annual gifts and support efforts to engage new donors. Specific responsibilities include coordination of athletic fundraising initiatives and events, assistance to the Alumni Association for the Alumni Plaza and Hospitality Rooms during home athletic events, support of the Wildcat Athletic Association (WAA) with membership campaigns, including donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. This is an entry-level engagement fundraising position and an ideal role in which to learn and refine the important foundational skills necessary in becoming a major gifts officer. Travel throughout Washington state and occasional out of state travel is required. Job Duties

Coordinate Athletics Special Fundraising Events
- Coordinate, plan and implement key athletic events and activities including, Hall of Fame, Kitna Golf Tournament, Alumni Plaza and Hospitality Room activities during home athletic games, in addition to other donor and alumni stewardship events as pertaining to athletics.
- Secure gift-in-kind and other event donations and sponsorships to support key athletic events.
- Responsible for event reconciliation and donor stewardship in coordination with the donor relations, communication and finance teams.

Create Opportunities for Annual Giving and Alumni Engagement
- Work in coordination with the annual giving team to develop and implement annual giving campaigns for the department of Athletics, including but not limited to WAA, Give Central, Wildcat Athletic Challenge.
- Manage a concentrated portfolio of entry-level prospective and current donors to CWU, including alumni, parents, friends and other constituent groups Work with Advancement staff and Alumni Association to expand athletics prospect base and identify opportunities for increased donor cultivation and stewardship.
- Assist with athletic gifts below $10,000 that require formal documentation in collaboration with Advancement colleagues.
- Regularly identify and qualify prospective donors through strategic contacts.
- Work with Advancement colleagues to hand-off potential mid-level or major gift prospects to colleagues as appropriate.
- Attend and leverage university events to engage athletics constituents.

Minimum Qualifications
  • One years' experience in alumni relations, donor cultivation, hospitality and/or event management.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated willingness and/or experience working with students and/or co-workers from a wide range of abilities, backgrounds, and experiences.
  • OR applicable combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience working in a higher education environment.
  • Understanding of fundraising and donor cultivation processes in higher education.
  • Demonstrated participation in programs designed to promote inclusion.
  • A record of promoting inclusivity in the work environment.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

Salary: This position is based on the range 40 of the Washington State Classification Listing, which has a minimum annual salary of $40,512 and maximum annual salary of $53,964. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Schedule/Appointment: Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (1 hour lunch) / evenings and weekends required

Working Conditions: Attendance at university programs and functions which may occur in the evening and/or weekends. Regional travel is required. Travel to off-campus, university-related events. Work is performed in a fast-paced office environment with frequent in-person interactions. It is essential to be able to meet the physical demands related to programs and services by continuous, repetitive arm, hand, and finger movements. Various degrees of stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, walking, carrying, or moving of objects and other movements may be required.
