POSITION SUMMARY:Maintains safety and emergency response on the ski hill.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Responsible for the safety of all mountain bikers/hikers and for terrain. Marks or removes hazards; post signs for dangerous or closed areas and difficult terrain. Reports areas that need repairs on trails and assist with repairs; will work with emergency, medical and first aid situations' on call for lift failure or injury. Patrol areas on mountain bike. Be a strong team player able to work well with co-workers under all conditions.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Must have extensive knowledge of Schweitzer Mountain Resort facilities and activities. Responsibilities are listed as guidelines and the position is not necessarily limited to these items.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

SKILLS: OEC, CPR, mountain biker.

EDUCATION: English reading, writing and communication skills; high school graduate; first aid and high angle rescue.

EXPERIENCE: Mountain biker and First Aid training

LICENSE NEEDED: NONE

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to handle up to 7.5 hours of physical activity including but not limited to: riding mountain bike up and down hill, trail maintenance, riding chairlift. May sit up to hour per day; can go inside at will to warm up, rest, eat lunch, etc. may lift up to 25lbs frequently and up to 100lbs occasionally. Will lift mountain bike, back board, packs, and; will bend and squat frequently; will climb, twist, and reach above shoulder level occasionally. Can use hands for grasping pushing/pulling and fine manipulation. All sensory skills are required. Worksite is 30% inside and 70% outside. Hazards are biking. Protective clothing is not provided. Safety equipment used: Helmet and gloves.

MACHINES/TOOLS OPERATED: Hand Tools/ATV-RTV/Pickup Truck / First Aid equipment/Mountain Bike

JUDGMENT/MENTAL COMPLEXITY: HIGH-emergency situations.
