Summary: The Sanitation Lead supervises and is responsible for overseeing the cleaning and sanitation operations to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and company standards. This role will manage a team of sanitation workers, develops cleaning schedules, and conducts regular inspections to maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads and directs a team of sanitation workers, assigns tasks, and ensures cleaning activities are completed effectively and efficiently.
  • Creates and maintains cleaning schedules to ensure all staff areas of the facility are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized daily.
  • Performs routine inspections of the facility to identify areas that require cleaning or sanitation and ensures compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Collaborates with production, FSQA, and maintenance departments to schedule cleaning activities that do not interfere with production schedule while maintaining high sanitation standards.
  • Trains sanitation staff on proper cleaning procedures, chemical handling, safety protocols, and equipment operation, while providing ongoing guidance and support to ensure team members perform their duties effectively.
  • Maintains accurate records of cleaning activities, inspection results, and corrective actions taken to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Implements and enforces sanitation practices, including proper cleaning techniques, use of approved sanitizers, and adherence to hygiene protocols to prevent contamination and ensure food safety.
  • Oversees the maintenance of sanitation equipment, such as steam cleaners, and sanitizing chemicals, to ensure they are in good working condition and used correctly.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvements in sanitation procedures, equipment, or training programs to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality within the sanitation department.
  • Prepares to respond to sanitation emergencies, such as spills or contamination incidents, by coordinating clean up efforts, following proper protocols, and minimizing risks to food safety.
  • Maintains open communication with management, team members, and other departments to address sanitation related issues, provides updates on cleaning activities, and ensures a collaborative working environment.
  • Stays current on food safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies related to sanitation practices and ensures all cleaning activities meet regulatory requirements.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Acquires knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.
Minimum Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6 months experience in manufacturing sanitation
  • A minimum of 6 months of sanitation experience
  • HS Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Previous food production experience is a plus, but not required.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is frequently required to climb or balance.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception

Special Training/Skills:

Fluency in English is a prerequisite for this position. Strong interpersonal and vebal communication abilities, with the capacity to effectively convey information and collaborate with diverse stakeholders. Proficiency in mathematical concepts and the ability to apply quantitative reasoning in job-related tasks.

This is a nonexempt position with an hourly rate of $23.27to $24.71.
