Job Description

Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our service team as an Associate Product Manager!

About the role

Under general direction, as the Associate Product Manager/ Absence and PFML Delivery Manager you will assist senior members of product development management team in identifying product needs; conduct competitive analysis; develop new products and/or enhancing the features of existing products; and working closely with operations, technology, business line, training and sales management involved in supporting and/or promoting Symetra's products. This position typically leads projects with basic or moderate-level complexity and may also manage the work of Product Analysts in support of product maintenance and development projects.

What you'll do in this role

  • Represent Product department as lead or sponsor on various projects.

  • Design and assist in writing product specifications for less complex products or product changes, seek agreement on product specifications w/ Distribution, Actuarial, IT, Ops, etc.

  • Serve as product expert across the organization.

  • Assist in answering technical questions from wholesalers/brokers/customers, referring more complex issues to senior product staff.

  • Oversee technical product research and support training/communications manager.

  • Present detailed product information to agents/distributors, including product training.

  • Participate in financial analysis.

  • Manage Product Analysts or other staff.

Compensation

Hourly Salary Range: $91,200- $151,900 plus eligibility for annual bonus program

Who you are

  • Possess Ability to manage multiple product related programs.
  • Understand product and insurance company financials. Maintain the ability to use financial analysis to build business cases for product changes.
  • Able to supervise, coach and mentor Product Analysts and others.
  • Possess Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple product-related projects.
  • Understanding of LAD products, specifically statutory disability, PFML, and Absence, the filing process, FMLA, ADA, and other absence-related laws/regs, the implementation and delivery process for PFML and other Absence products, and ability to analyze legislation to determine impact on products.
  • Ability to develop marketing material, newsletters, and other communication pieces that may be required for LAD products or Absence. Excellent organizational skills, interpersonal and relationship management skills as well as strong technical writing skills required.
