The Team

The Foundation Strategy Office is the primary function supporting the creation and evolution of our program level strategies as well as exploring new paths to impact that align with our mission. This includes supporting the CEO, CFO, and Chief Strategy Officer in key accountabilities like strategy development, strategy revision, strategy performance measurement, portfolio management, and special initiatives to accelerate the impact of the foundation.

Your Role

As an Associate Strategy Officer, you will work in a hybrid arrangement, reporting to the Deputy Director, Strategy. You will support critical strategy projects within the foundation by crafting and implementing qualitative and quantitative analyses, synthesizing, and communicating key insights to partners, and managing clients.

You will provide support in prioritizing, developing, and launching new foundation strategies and initiatives for Global Education, Gender Equality, Malaria, Family Planning, MNCH, Nutrition, Philanthropic Partnerships, K-12 Education, Executive Leadership Team, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and many more.

What You'll Do
  • Employ strategic resources to develop and assess options, ensure sound reasoning, and challenge assumptions.
  • Liaise closely with internal clients to co-develop, test strategy concepts, and facilitate organizational change.
  • Support the implementation of creative solutions to guide group processes.
  • Contribute to the identification and implementation of research and analytical work to support resolution-making and develop analytical methodologies.
  • Support Strategy (Sr.) Officers with the day-to-day ownership of the strategic process and catalyzing discrete bodies of work.
  • Regularly contribute to team developing "extra 10s" such as team vision and goal refinement, professional development, training, recruiting, onboarding, team social events, retreats, and foundation-wide activities, etc.

Your Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in strategic planning and consulting
  • Deep knowledge of and strengths in strategy development and end-to-end sophisticated project management
  • Optimally work with sensitivity across barriers such as language, culture, and distance
  • Software skills with Microsoft Office applications, including a proven track record to convey information using supporting tables, graphs, and other visual representations
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Stata or similar
  • Ability to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally

*Must be able to legally work in the country where this position is located without visa sponsorship.

The salary range for this role is $125,000 -$187,500 USD. We recognize high-wage market differences where our offices are located in Seattle and Washington D.C. The range for this role in these locations is $136,100-$204,300 USD. As a mission-driven organization, we strive to balance competitive pay with our mission and new hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary range between the minimum and the midpoint salary range. Actual placement in the range will depend on a candidate's job-related skills, experience, and expertise, as evaluated during the interview process.
