As part of a passionate and accomplished team of professionals in the Legal and Compliance Department, you will provide multi-disciplinary paralegal support to the Department and the business on a variety of matters, such as commercial transactions, litigation or employment disputes, intellectual property, legal operations, enterprise risk management, and regulatory requirements.

Your day-to-day work is likely to include researching substantive legal questions, leading complex projects, providing intellectual property support and reviewing regulatory and commercial transaction documents. You will use your existing experience and background to address current needs of our business, and help the Department address emerging needs by developing new expertise. This role will be based in Kent, Washington or Merritt Island, Florida.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct legal research using common electronic research tools, as well as monitor key federal, state and local statutes.
  • Assist with review and redlining of commercial transaction and regulatory documents, as well as coordinating and preparing documents for execution or closing.
  • Assist with tasks related to litigation and employment disputes, such as investigations, preparing legal holds, document and deposition discovery, interviewing, responding to demand letters, subpoena requests, and pre-dispute communications.
  • Support intellectual property and regulatory and compliance activities.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or Associate's degree in legal services and support
  • Paralegal certificate from an American Bar Association (ABA)-accredited program
  • A minimum of 5 years of paralegal experience with a corporation, law firm, or federal government body
  • Experience with Legal Tracker, iManage, Atlas, or similar legal operations systems
  • Proficiency with Lexis or Westlaw to perform research assignments
  • Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft communication applications (Teams and Sharepoint) and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook) for the creation and editing of complex documents, spreadsheets, and e-mail
  • Ability to learn new skills and substantive legal areas to support multiple roles within the Department
  • Prior experience coordinating complex projects involving multiple areas (such as litigation or dispute discovery or investigations)
  • Be able to work efficiently and communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) to provide advice directly to clients at every level, including senior leadership
  • Ability to react calmly and with appropriate urgency to situations and events that require a quick response or turnaround, make decisions independently, and take effective action without complete information
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Desired:
  • Prior experience with litigation
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies, such as Six Sigma or Lean
  • Familiarity with export control regulations, including International Traffic in Arms Regulations and the Export Administration Regulations
  • Familiarity with U.S. government contracting, including Federal Acquisition Regulations, Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations, and agency-specific regulations
