Job Description

Aon's Reinsurance Solutions business is looking for a Senior Application Architect. As part of an industry-leading global broking platform, you will help enable and empower other development teams by establishing and evolving frameworks, patterns, core services, and developer tooling! Work at a large enterprise level dealing with a myriad of solution types varying from greenfield cloud native solutions, cloud IaaS, hybrid, on-prem, and cloud migrations. This is a hybrid work arrangement.

What the day will look like
  • Develop a technical product roadmap for platforms and foundational services. Work with other product owners to ensure their roadmaps are aligned with technical goals and outcomes.
  • Design, high-level application architecture, and integration of systems, and services. Provide input on technologies, tools, and patterns that will be used by product teams. Identify and build training materials that would be advantageous for the development community.
  • Build or coordinate artifacts that are required in the SLDC process. Participate in architectural design collaborations with other architects and development leads.
  • Recognize when a delivery team is off its intended course, not meeting architectural goals, and recommend course accurate options. Act as a go-to technical authority for products and services under Aon Reinsurance.
  • Provide mentorship to development teams around overall architecture, design, and testing practices.
  • Builds work items as needed in the product backlog to refactor problem areas, address technical debt, or improve performance, scalability, availability, etc.
  • Works with business collaborators to find the best time to address architectural work.
  • Works with the development lead and development team to ensure the architectural design is well understood and is aligned with the implementation. Works with quality lead on test strategy to validate architectural goals are met.
  • Define software development standards and best practices.
  • Assist in finding solutions to complex architectural and technical issues.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to modernize existing products to stay ahead of technology standards, application performance, and security initiatives.
  • Be self-educating and self-motivating to stay at the forefront of technology while looking for opportunities to drive innovative business solutions. Educate and share knowledge with team members on new technology and tooling options.
Skills and experience that will lead to success.
  • Overall 10+years of IT experience
  • Bachelor's or master's degree or equivalent experience in software engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related technical field
  • Experience with designing Azure Cloud solutions (Experience with other Cloud solutions is a plus)
  • Proficient with writing RESTful API's using .NET 6/7/8.
  • Experience architecting and designing sophisticated and adaptable software solutions to tackle sophisticated business problems.
  • Knowledge around how OWASP top ten vulnerabilities work and how to mitigate.
  • Solid understanding of architectural and coding patterns.
  • Good grasp of relational and NoSQL database concepts
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong time, and organization skills.
  • Validated resilience and maturity in resolving process and project issues.
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD)
  • Experience working in an agile software development environment. Hands-on development to tackle challenging coding problems.
Optional Qualifications
  • Experience using Azure services such as AKS, App Service Plan, Storage Accounts, Key Vault, Managed Identities.
  • Experience with Azure services such as Data Factory, Event Hub, Event Grid, Cosmos DB
  • Familiarity with OAuth2/OIDC and SAML

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $135,000 - $165,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
