Description

Pay Range: $24.78

Job purpose: Safely and efficiently aid plant operation by moving material, operating and cleaning equipment

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Load, unload and move materials/containers within or near plant, yard, and work sige
  • Load, unload and move material from pallets, trays, boxes and other containers
  • Clean/wash work area, machines vehicles and or equipment
  • Shovel loose material into machine hoppers, vehicles or pit
  • Operate industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products
  • Work with corrosive chemicals such as caustic and sulfuric acids in a safe manner
  • Paint equipment as necessary
  • Complete the necessary regulatory paperwork
  • Operate process equipment as instructed
  • Work around steam driven machinery
  • Work with and near cooking oil and raw animal part
  • Interact with others in a professional and ethical manner
  • Follow department and company procedures
  • Keep up regular attendance and punctuality; regular attendance and punctuality are essential for the smooth operation of this company
  • Other duties as assigned


Position Requirements
  • Knowledge of production processes and operation of equipment
  • Skill to control equipment and monitor operations of it
  • Ability to move material such as whole dead stock with or without specialized equipment
  • Ability to perform duties from high levels
  • Certified Forklift Operator
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Valid driver license with ability to drive manual vehicle
  • 1 year experience in a production setting

Physical Demands/Requirements:

Constantly (over 2/3):

  • Move and transport materials up to 50-100 lbs with or without specialized lifting, moving and rigging equipment
  • Moves across wet/slippery and uneven surfaces
  • Must be able to position self to perform duties around industrial equipment and materials that are hot or hazardous chemical materials

Frequently (1/3-2/3):

  • Exposed to work in outdoor weather conditions
  • Ascends/descends heights while maintaining balance
  • Utilizes tools and equipment such as a shovel to move material
  • Remains in a seated position while using multilimb coordination to operate forklift or other mechanical equipment

Occasionally (under 1/3):

  • Detect and observe conditions that need to be addressed such as equipment that needs to be painted or materials that need to be moved/removed
  • Electronically and manually completes logs/reports
  • Communicates with staff in the process of performing duties
