Summary

Mortenson is seeking a Senior Instructional Designer responsible for helping design and build out the components of a transformational skills-based learning program for key project leadership roles. Partnering with our operating groups across the company, this role will work closely with leadership and SMEs to identify key skills and develop role-based curricula to ensure we have the bench strength to meet the evolving needs of our fast growing company. This is an impactful role on a high visibility project offering you the opportunity to influence the future of learning in our industry in an environment that truly lives our values of "Building for the Greater Good."

Hiring Location: United States - All Mortenson Locations - Open to remote

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct needs analysis and identify learners, learning objectives, and performance outcomes.
• Design and develop multimodal learning solutions, such as online courses, instructor-led sessions, blended learning, microlearning, simulations, games, videos, or assessments.
• Apply instructional design principles, learning theories, and adult learning principles to ensure learner engagement and retention.
• Apply the Mortenson design and development methodologies to the instructional design process.
• Implement and test learning solutions for functionality, usability, and accessibility in a learning management system.
• Create and implement appropriate evaluation methods to measure the effectiveness and impact of learning solutions.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to instructional designers and other team members.
• Research and stay updated on current trends and innovations in instructional design and learning technologies.
• Partner with project teams and subject matter experts to map out effective curriculum strategies, design documents and course materials, such as storyboards and instructor-led training guides, using interactive, scenario-based, or simulated learning activities.
• Source or create graphics and visuals that positively contribute to the learner's overall experience.
• Partner with vendors to develop learner-centric and engaging training materials, as required.
• Manage curriculum development projects including timeline, resources, and budget.
• Effectively build strong relationships with those from diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in instructional design or equivalent experience, Master's degree in instructional design preferred.
• Minimum six years' experience in instructional design, adult learning theory, and technical writing.
• Minimum five years' experience managing multiple instructional design projects at a time.
• Experience designing curriculum and courses for engineering or construction industries preferred.
• Articulate Storyline and Rise experience mandatory.
• Graphic design and multi-media development skills required.
