What You Will Do to Change Lives

This position functions as part of Telecare's Peer Bridger Program for Whatcom, Skagit, Snohomish, San Juan and Island counties residents at Western State Hospital. The role of the Peer Bridger is to offer peer support services to participants at the state hospital prior to discharge and after their return to their communities. The Peer Bridger develops a relationship of trust with each participant, functioning as a role model, peer support, mentor, advocate, and ally. The Peer Bridger communicates hope and encouragement to assist participants in developing readiness to discharge from the hospital and return to their community. In the community, Peer Bridgers offer assistance with independent living skills, coping skills, and community adjustment, helping the individual make a positive connection to the outpatient behavioral health service and other community resources.

Shifts Available:

Full Time; DAYS 8:00 am- 4:30 pm; Monday - Friday

Expected starting wage range is $18.22 - $21.95. The full wage range goes up to $25.69. Telecare applies geographic differentials to its pay ranges. The pay range assigned to this role will be based on the geographic location from which the role is performed. Starting pay is commensurate with relevant experience above the minimum requirements.

What You Bring to the Table (Must Have)
  • Lived experience of mental health recovery and the willingness to share his/her own experiences.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Valid Washington Driver's license or the ability to travel via public transportation.
  • Ability to meet timely documentation requirements.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively as a team member with Hospital staff, MCO/BH-ASO staff, and program Individuals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • General office and computer experience.
  • Washington Certified Peer Specialist with at least two years' experience working as a peer.
  • Dress professionally and appropriately.
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Valid and current driver's license, and personal vehicle insurance with your name listed as a driver.
  • Willingness to use your personal vehicle to attend meetings, etc.

  • Ability and experience working with people from diverse cultures.
  • Experience with state hospital system.
  • Ability to form trusting and reciprocal relationships.
