How you'll make an impact:

We are looking for a Senior Staff Scientist to focus on the applications of image and video processing in multi-modal content analysis and personalized discovery. In this role you will leverage your expertise in image and video processing, ML, and deep learning and work with peers in the science, engineering and product teams to improve the quality of personalized recommendations and search across SiriusXM and Pandora products.

What you'll do:

  • Research, design, experiment with, and build machine learning systems for processing image and video content to improve the quality of search and recommendation experiences across SiriusXM and Pandora products.

  • Collaborate with product and engineering partners to implement, measure, and celebrate new innovations. You will present your research and impact to the team, across the Product Development organization, and potentially externally through publications and conferences.

  • Propose, design, and analyze new experiments to validate scientific hypotheses.

  • Build production data pipelines and models at scale, and review methods and code of other scientists.

  • Perform other duties as required.

  • This role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities

What you'll need:

We look for candidates who strive to push the state-of-the-art in areas like generative deep learning for image and video processing and recommendation systems.

  • Ph.D. or MS in CS, Engineering or other quantitative fields and 4+ years of research and development experience in building scalable ML systems.

  • Expertise with contemporary techniques/tools for Computer Vision/Image Processing (e.g., CNNs, transformers, etc.)

  • Experience with ML-frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively advocate technical solutions to scientists, engineers, and product audiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to invent novel data science, machine learning, and engineering solutions.

  • Passion for data-driven research, development, and experimentation.

  • Self-motivated, growth-oriented, and driven to pursue solutions to challenging problems.

  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

  • Bonus Skills:

    • Ph.D. thesis on Computer Vision/Image Processing and applications.

    • Demonstrated scientific excellence through publishing in first-tier conferences.

    • Experience implementing production machine learning pipelines and models at scale in Python, Java, Scala, or similar languages.

    • Experience with any of the following: Cloud computing: Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, Azure. Distributed processing, warehousing, and orchestration frameworks (e.g., Spark, Hive, Airflow)

    • Experience in recommendation systems, search and learning to rank techniques

At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $175,500 to $265,500 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
